The outpatient imaging center at Saltzer Health’s Ten Mile Clinic is expanding services to offer an extended range of specialized, low-cost imaging options to patients in the Treasure Valley community.
Through an expanded partnership with Radiology Associates, an Oregon-based company, caregivers at Saltzer Health will be able to provide doctors more detailed information so they can make even more informed decisions regarding patient treatments.
“Medical imaging has become a vital part of everyday healthcare and helps lead to improved outcomes for patients, said Renee Hawkins, director of imaging at Saltzer Health, an Intermountain Health company. “By partnering with radiologists who have a wide range of medical specialties, it ensures our patients are getting the best care possible.”
As medical imaging has become more common and a bigger part of patient care, so has the need to keep costs affordable. Because Saltzer Health’s outpatient imaging center is located in a clinic and doesn’t have the same overhead costs as a hospital, the price for imaging is more affordable. This is especially important for people without insurance or those on high deductible plans.
“About 40% of medical imaging is done in an outpatient setting, and when it’s not an emergency situation, people can, and should, shop for the best price,” said Hawkins. “By helping lower the cost of care we’re expanding access to people who need it.”
The Saltzer imaging clinic offers CT, MRI, x-ray, ultrasound, and DEXA scans. All of the services at Saltzer’s imaging center are offered from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, with X-ray and CT scans available 24 hours a day.
